Who am I?
Who am I?
Kees was born in Assen in 1966. He grew up with the nature and landscape of Drenthe, where he still enjoys hiking and biking. His ever-present interest in photography gained more substance in 2016 by focusing on nature and landscape photography.
Inspired by Andrea Gulickx, in recent years he has mastered the technique of “Intentional Camera Movement” (ICM). Using the technique of a deliberately moved camera, he manages to give his photographs, which are more reminiscent of paintings, an atmosphere of their own.
Kees de Ruijter currently lives in Zetten.
This is what Kees says about his own work:
“With ICM photography, I create images of the landscape and nature as I see it in the moment. Apart from all the distracting details, I try to capture the atmosphere. I can do that with the movement I make with my camera. I use these to enhance the lines, textures or colors that strike me in them. But where and how the light falls also plays a big role. In fact, in this way I try to establish a relationship between the reality of the landscape and the imagination.
I try to capture the wonder of the moment so that the viewer is touched by its delicate nature. In doing so, I want to encourage reflection on the fragile, beautiful environment we are privileged to live in and enjoy.”
